My Honest Clinique Moisture Surge Review

If you’ve been eyeing one of the best-selling moisturizers from this iconic brand, my Clinique Moisture Surge Review might let you down. I purchased a little mini version of this moisturizer to test out for a review, and I have some thoughts. 

This brand has been around since 1968 and offers skincare, makeup, and body care, too. You’ll often find Clinique at department stores and in the mall, but you can obviously purchase Clinique products online as well. 

In this Clinique Moisture Surge Review, I’m going to dive into what I like about this formula, and what I don’t love. Read on to find out.  

My Honest Clinique Moisture Surge Review

I wanted to test this formula out because I saw that a bunch of folks on Google were researching this product, trying to get an unbiased review. I have tried multiple Clinique products over the last 15 years, with Almost Lipstick in Black Honey and the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ being a few of my favorites. 

Based on its name, I thought that the Clinique Moisture Surge cream would be super thick and hydrating, but I didn’t find that that was the case.  

What Is Clinique Moisture Surge?

Even though there are many products within the Moisture Surge line, this Clinique Moisture Surge review is only going to cover the Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. I haven’t purchased any of the other Moisture Surge products from the line. 

The purpose of the Moisture Surge line is to add intense hydration to your skin. It’s meant for those with dry, dehydrated, or combination skin and uses ingredients like aloe water and hyaluronic acid to add soothing properties and hydration back into the skin. 

What Is In Clinique Moisture Surge Range?

There are a ton of products within the Clinique Moisture Surge range. Almost all of them I haven’t tried yet, except for the Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. These products include:

Moisture Surge Overnight Mask 

Available at Bloomingdales ($44)

This is a rich, hydrating overnight mask that works to deeply replenish skin while you sleep.

Moisture Surge Eye 96-Hour Hydro-Filler Concentrate 

Available at Bloomingdales ($42)

For those who love a lightweight eye gel, this pick adds intense hydration and also helps reduce puffiness, too. 

Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate 

Available at Bloomingdales ($48)

This is a water-gel serum that provides an instant boost of hydration and protects the skin.

Moisture Surge Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief 

Available at Bloomingdales ($32)

This is a refreshing facial mist for on-the-go hydration, soothing, and calming the skin.

Moisture Surge Lip Hydro-Plump Treatment 

Available at Blue Mercury ($22)

An ideal formula to help smooth and plump lips with a ton of hydration. 

Moisture Surge Intense 72H Lipid-Replenishing Hydrator

Available at Bloomingdales ($47)

This pick is a richer version of the original Moisture Surge. It helps provide intense hydration for very dry skin.

My Thoughts On the Clinique Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator

First off, I thought that this would feel a lot thicker than it actually is. I guess I didn’t pick up on the fact that it’s supposed to be like a gel-cream, rather than a thick cream. I think that I thought the texture of this moisturizer would be closer to what the Moisture Surge Intense 72H Lipid-Replenishing Hydrator actually is. Which is a more traditional cream formula. 

Key ingredients in this formula include hyaluronic acid, aloe, and vitamins C and E. I think it’s also important to note that the second ingredient in the ingredients list for this moisturizer is dimethicone. Some folks don’t like to apply silicones to their face. That doesn’t really bother me that much. But I believe that the dimethicone is what is making this feel moisturizing and helps to lock in hydration into your skin. 

You can use this formula morning and night, and the brand states that you can use it in a few other ways, too. For example, you can apply a little bit over your makeup, like a highlighter, to add a bit of dewiness to the skin. Additionally, you can use this as a 5-minute face mask and then wipe it off with a tissue. 

I didn’t notice any type of irritation or breakouts when I was testing this Clinique moisturizer. Which is a relief. I also really appreciate that this formula is fragrance-free. My skin hates fragrance. 

That being said, I didn’t notice a ton of hydration like the product promises. To be honest, I usually prefer a thicker formula that is a cream, rather than a gel-cream. So perhaps I wasn’t the best person to try this out. 

However, I think that this formula would be better suited to those who love a gel cream and have a skin type that falls under normal, combination, or even oily skin. I have super dry skin, especially in the winter, so this formula didn’t add enough hydration for my liking. I do think it looked nice under makeup. 

Is Clinique Moisture Surge Worth It?

I don’t think that the hydrator that I tested was worth it. Like, it’s okay, but it’s not my favorite. I do want to try out the Moisture Surge Intense 72H Lipid-Replenishing Hydrator and see how I like it in comparison to the Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator.
