My Honest Necessaire Review
Most gals would tell you that their skincare or haircare routine takes priority. I’m hoping that this Necessaire review might make you think twice about your body care routine, too. What’s wild is that we typically spend more time (and money) on products for our face and hair, but the skin on the rest of the body gets pretty neglected. And it’s the largest organ of our body, too!
While I, too, tend to spend more money on skincare products for my face and hair products for my locks, I think investing in some nice body care picks is always a special lil treat. And if you’re going to spend money on your body, I’d probably opt for the luxe Necessaire products.
Necessaire Review: Here’s What You Need to Know
In this Necessaire review, I will be covering all of the products I’ve tested from the line over the years. To be honest, I haven’t tried a ton of the products, but I’ve tried enough to have some opinions on them! A few that I still would like to try are the Hand Cream and Body Exfoliator.
My hope with this Necessaire review is that it will give you some insight into which products are worth your hard-earned cash, and which ones you can probably skip.
What Is Necessaire?
Necessaire is a luxury skincare brand that focuses mostly on body (and now hair). Nécessaire is based in LA and was founded in 2018 by Randi Christiansen and Nick Axelrod-Welk. Christiansen previously worked at Estée Lauder in global strategy and product development, while Axelrod-Welk is a co-founder of Into The Gloss.
When the brand first started, the goal was to elevate body care products to the level of skincare. The brand is incredibly chic, contains clean and effective ingredients, is sustainable with a minimalist approach, and above all, offers high-quality and safe ingredients to apply to your body.
What Are The Best Necessaire Products?
From My Favorite to Least Favorite

The Body Lotion
Available at Necessaire ($30)
I’ve written about the Body Lotion in my popular non-toxic body lotion blog post. I think it’s a beautiful formula that’s really clean and safe for daily use. It contains ingredients like peptides, niacinamide, omegas, and oils rich in vitamin A, C, and E. I love that it’s fragrance-free and pH-optimized, and is really gentle on sensitive skin. It’s so gentle, in fact, that it’s accepted by the National Eczema Association.
This is a pretty thick formula, which I love. It does a good job of thoroughly hydrating your body, but takes a minute or so to really soak in. My skin feels really soft and supple after I use this pick. It’s won a ton of awards, and I definitely think it’s worth the hype and the price.

Recently, I’ve been using The Body Lotion in the Olibanum scent. It has a warm fragrance and smells really lovely and really subdued, too. The brand also carries a eucalyptus scent that I would love to try at some point, too!
Necessaire Rosemary Hair Duo
Available at Necessaire ($60 total)
Honestly, there is nothing I love more than an earthy hair care or body care scent. This pick from Necessaire features rosemary (obviously), and smells so lovely. I notice that after I use the shampoo, my scalp feels really clean. It almost feels like a clarifying shampoo, but without leaving my scalp feeling uncomfortably dry.
The conditioner is a lot more hydrating than I initially anticipated. The first time I used it, I applied way too much into my hands and then tried to spread it on my strands, but ended up wasting a lot because I really didn’t need that much. I feel like a little goes a long way with the conditioner, which is nice.

According to the brand, this duo is meant to help strengthen your scalp and hair. I found the shampoo to be very non-irritating, and I do believe that it has scalp-protecting benefits. The formula contains plant proteins and ceramides to boost your scalp’s skin barrier.
This duo is absolutely not cheap, and is on the luxury/higher-end in terms of haircare. That being said, I think if you are someone who wants to invest in haircare, this is a good option for you.
I also think that you don’t have to have damaged hair to be a good candidate for this shampoo and conditioner. I think it’s a great option for anyone who has an oily scalp or tends to get oily pretty quickly.
The Body Serum
Available at Necessaire ($48)
The brand sent me this serum a while ago to test. I ended up finishing the bottle, but I honestly don’t think you need to spend money on this pick. It’s almost $50, and it’s supposed to act like a serum before your moisturizer, but for the body.
I think the concept is cool, but who wants to add a serum and a moisturizer to their body after every shower? Seems like too much work for me. I will say that I did notice my skin (especially my legs) felt more hydrated and plump after I used this. Especially after I shaved my legs and then would apply this.
I like that it’s accepted by the National Eczema Association, so it could be good for those who suffer from eczema. And it’s a lovely, high-end formula, but I just don’t think it’s worth the price.
The Body Wash
Available at Necessaire ($38)
The Necessaire Body Wash is another best-seller for the brand. Truthfully, I rarely ever use body wash unless I’m traveling and I have to. I am a bar soap girl through and through, and I find body washes extremely annoying to use.
Unsurprisingly, I don’t love this product. However, I think if you like body washes, you will like this pick. It’s been a while since I tested it, but I remember the formula being very, very gentle on my dry skin, which is always a huge plus for me.
Is Necessaire Worth It?
I think some Necessaire personal care products are worth it, and some are not. Keep in mind that there are a bunch of products from the brand that I haven’t tested yet. However, based on the ones that I have tried, I definitely think the shampoos and conditioners are worth the price, as well as the body lotion.
Again, I am not a big body wash fan, but if you are, I think you’d love the brand’s body wash. I’m not impressed with the body serum and I don’t think it’s worth the high price.
