Versed Makeup Review: What To Know About This Clean Makeup Brand

I’m proud to say that this Versed makeup review is going to be a pretty lengthy one. I’ve managed to get my hands on most of the products from the new makeup line—most of them I’ve been given for future editorial consideration for my journalism work, while others I’ve actually purchased myself to test out.

Versed is one of the most popular skincare brands at Target. So I was excited to hear that they were coming out with their own clean makeup line. Even more thrilling—the gal who started MERIT Beauty, Katherine Power, also founded Versed. My immediate thought was: Is the new Versed makeup line a cheaper dupe of the MERIT makeup I love so much? I needed to investigate. Read on for my thorough Versed beauty review.

What Is Versed Makeup?

Versed makeup is a line of beauty products that are clean, simple, understated, and relatively affordable, too. The line launched in February 2025, and features clean, vegan, and cruelty-free makeup products that are affordable and easy to use.

One of the things I love about this new line is that it features some skincare ingredients to help boost your skin’s health all while wearing makeup. You’ll find ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, antioxidants, and vitamin E.

FAQs about Versed Makeup

  • Is Versed makeup clean?

Sometimes I hate this question because “clean” is so relative and misleading these days. One thing I will say is that Versed skincare products are rated between a 1 and 5 on EWG’s Skin Deep website. Most of the products are between 1-3, which is pretty impressive. I can’t find much about the Versed makeup products on the website, but I’m guessing it’s pretty similar.

  • Is Versed makeup good for sensitive skin?

The brand’s new Skin Tint foundation has been accepted by the National Rosacea Society, which I think is a great sign. I haven’t really had any issues with the products that I’ve tested thus far, and I have the most sensitive skin in America.

  • Where can I buy Versed makeup?

You can buy Versed makeup on the brand’s website or at Target.

In-Depth Product Reviews

Versed Skin Tint Review

Available at Versed ($20)

This is probably one of, if not the most popular, makeup products from the new Versed makeup line. And I am completely on the fence about it. It seems like other reviewers are on the fence about it as well.

I have a few reasons why I’m on the fence. The first is that, some days, this looks great on my skin. And other days, it doesn’t. When my skin isn’t breaking out or doesn’t have super dry patches, I think this Versed Skin Tint looks gorg. But if I have any type of dry patches, either from dry skin or from acne that is healing/drying, this accentuates it and doesn’t blend into those areas very well.

I just wore this out the other night with my friend, and she said that my makeup looked “beautiful.” And yes, I did look good, but my skin underneath the foundation was also pretty clear and hydrated too.

Another issue I have with this foundation is the shades. I have to mix two shades together to get my almost–perfect match. The shades that I mix together are 3P and 5N. I wish that the shade range was better.

Skin Tint shades from left to right: 2N, 3P, 5N

One thing I’ve learned about this foundation is that a little goes a long way. I prefer a really light coverage foundation (and then I’ll use concealer to cover up any redness or blemishes on top). I would say that this pick definitely offers a medium coverage. So I add a lot less than I think I need when I apply this. I also notice that this formula does sit on the skin a little. I’ve also learned to set it with translucent powder so that it stays put throughout the day. I also think that that helps minimize the clinging-to-dry-patches issue that I mentioned previously.

The best part about this foundation is that it feels pretty light on the skin, and it also offers SPF 40, which is really impressive for a foundation. I do think that the name of the product is a little off, as I feel that it’s more of a foundation than a skin tint.

All-in-all, I think that this foundation might be worth trying, but it’s not the best one I’ve ever tried by any means. It doesn’t break me out, which is super important to me. And I also love that it is accepted by the National Rosacea Society. If you’re going to try it out, remember that a little goes a long way. I would recommend you use a round foundation brush to blend it into your skin. Also, don’t forget to set it with powder.

Versed Concealer Review

Available at Versed ($15)

This is one of my favorite products from the line—and this Versed makeup review would be nothing without mentioning these babies. The concealer is medium coverage but looks really flawless on the skin. I love to use shade 2N under my eyes, and shade 3P on my blemishes. I love that it doesn’t break me out and blends into any acne that I have pretty well. It’s very lightweight and not thick, and I think it’s easy to work with.

Concealer shades left to right: 2N, 3P

If we are comparing it to the MERIT The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick…you can’t really compare them lol. The MERIT Complexion Stick is a very thick, creamy formula that blends into the skin better than anything I’ve ever seen. The Versed Serum Concealer is much more liquidy and not necessarily creamy. It’s way more lightweight. I haven’t really tried the Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick under my eyes, though. I only use it for acne or other redness around my skin. So I can’t say how it compares to the Versed Serum Concealer in terms of creasing under the eyes. I don’t notice any creasing with the Versed Serum Concealer, which is a huge plus.

I’ll use this with a concealer brush to blend it into my eyes and any redness or acne I have around my chin and nose. I would definitely recommend this formula and will continue to use it in my everyday makeup routine!

Versed Blush Review

Available at Versed ($15)

Do I think that the Versed Blush is basically an exact MERIT Blush dupe? Yes, yes I do. It’s literally half the price, and applies almost the same as the Merit Blush. They both offer a dewy-ish, satin finish, but the MERIT Blush comes in a lot more shades.

Blush shades top to bottom: Deco, Pinch, Bloom

I have the shades “Pinch,” “Deco,” and “Bloom” and I love them all. Sometimes I like to layer two of them on top of each other, and other times I will wear just one. I also apply them one of two ways, depending how much of a rush I’m in. If I’m in a big rush, I will swipe it on my cheeks and blend with my fingers. If I’m not in a rush, I will dip a brush onto the stick, and apply the formula using a stiff-ish blush brush.

I definitely recommend these blushes if you love a dewy, sheer wash of color on your cheeks.

Versed Highlighter Review

Available at Versed ($15)

This is another pick from the Versed makeup line that I love. I have shades Simmer, Polished, and Baroque and like to use them all interchangeably, depending on the makeup look I’m going for. I don’t think these are an exact dupe of the MERIT Day Glow Highlighting Balm. The textures are pretty different. The MERIT highlighter is a lot more wet-feeling, while the Versed highlighter is more of a luminous, still-dewy-but-a-lot-less-wet formula.

I also like to apply these with my fingers or my brush, depending on how much time I have in the morning.

Versed Eyeshadow Review

Available at Versed ($14)

I think this formula is nice, but it’s not something I reach for a lot. I only have one shade, which is “Haze.” The shade range in the Versed Sheer Stay Liquid Eyeshadows is not something I would typically choose, so I’m not really in love with these picks. And even when I do use “Haze,” it’s more for a smokey eye look, rather than an everyday look.

I haven’t tested these out to see if they hold up without eyeshadow primer, so that’s something to note. I think that if you like these shades, then it might be worth trying. But if not, I would probably skip!

Versed Brow Gel Review

Available at Versed ($14)

I think this brow gel is pretty great, and I like that it keeps my brows in place and adds some fullness to them. The biggest issue I have is that I own the “Black Brown” shade, and I think it might be a bit too dark for my brows. However, I think the “Brown” shade might be too light for my brow hair. So I’m hoping that they expand the shade range soon, but I think the formula is pretty great.

Versed Tinted Lip Serum Review

Available at Versed ($12)

This is one of the more popular picks from the line. I have the shade “Gem” and really like it. I don’t normally go for lip products that have a ton of sheen and shine (I prefer a satin finish), but I do find myself reaching for this lip serum pretty often.

It does a great job of hydrating your lips while adding a gorgeous wash of color as well. However, don’t expect this formula to last very long on your lips. You are definitely going to need to reapply throughout the day.

Versed Glow Drops Review

Available at Versed ($18)

The Versed Mood Lighting Glow Drops were actually launched in 2021, but I’m going to include my little review of the product anyways. I’ll be honest and say that I don’t use luminizing products all over my face that often. I moreseo like to use them just on my cheekbones as a highlighter.

That being said, I think the Versed Glow Drops are lovely, and I really like the product’s versatility. You can mix it into your moisturizer for a little extra glow, or apply it after moisturizer and under foundation. You can mix a few drops into your foundation, or you can apply it as a highlighter on your cheekbones and browbones.

The shade Sheer Golden suits my light skin tone well. I prefer to use this with a foundation that is a little bit on the matte/natural finish side, rather than a glowy foundation, as I think that would be way too much glow.

Versed Lip Blush Review

Available at Versed ($11)

I think this is a really interesting product. The formula isn’t really like anything I’ve tried before. I have shades Reserve and Casual, and love to throw these in my purse to apply on-the-go. The color payoff is pretty sheer, which I do like. But the one thing that you might not love is that these don’t necessarily feel “hydrating” on the lips. It does feel a little bit drying on the lips, and some might find that off-putting. Personally, I don’t mind it that much. However, I think that if you are going to try anything from this Versed makeup review, I think this should probably be the last one on your list.

How Versed Makeup Compares to Other Brands

Are you wondering how Versed Makeup compares to other popular clean makeup brands? See below for my thoughts:

  • MERIT Beauty vs. Versed Makeup: Considering the same woman founded both MERIT Beauty and Versed Makeup (and Skincare), I would say that these two brands are super similar. You can check out my Merit Makeup Review for my thoughts about each product). I do think that some of the textures are pretty different, but the clean-girl vibes are the same, and the gentle-on-your-skin formulas are similar.
  • Saie vs. Versed Makeup: I don’t use Saie a ton. Mainly because I tried the Slip Tint once and didn’t fall in love. That being said, I think they do have some lovely formulas. The biggest difference between Saie and Versed Makeup would be that Saie has a higher price point, and I think that Saie’s color range feels a lot brighter and bolder than Versed.
  • Tower 28 Beauty vs. Versed Makeup: I do love Tower 28 and recommend their products on my blog. I think that these two brands are pretty similar, but Versed has a lot more makeup offerings than Tower 28 does. I love that they both cater to sensitive skin, which is important to me.

Pros and Cons of Versed Makeup

Pros:

  • Affordable, under-$20 price point
  • Skincare-makeup hybrid formulas
  • Lightweight, everyday wear

Cons:

  • Sheer coverage (to me, this is a huge pro, but for full-glam gals, this would be a con)
  • Pretty limited shade range at the moment
  • May not last all day without setting

Final Verdict: Is Versed Makeup Worth It?

Yes, I think this is drugstore makeup worth buying. I think the prices are fair and the formulas are impressive. My favorite picks from the line are the Blush Stick, Serum Concealer, Illuminating Stick, and Tinted Lip Serum. I also do like the Skin Tint, but I think that the shade range needs a lot of work, and that you need to set it with powder or you’re gonna look cakey.

I wish I loved the Lip Blush more, and I need the brand to expand the Liquid Eyeshadows and Brow Gel shade ranges for me to fall in love with these formulas as well.

I’m happy to report that I really loved almost all of the products in this Versed Makeup review. There are a few others that I still want to test out, like the Bronzer Stick and the Mascara. But until then, I’ll be reaching for this brand quite a lot this season.

I hope you enjoyed this Versed Makeup review! Please comment below if you’ve tried any of these out and have thoughts–I would love to hear from you!
