Saltair Deodorant Reviews: Does This Stick Really Prevent The Stink?

This is one of those Saltair deodorant reviews that will not disappoint! This Target brand has soared with consumers since its inception in 2022. Not only is the packaging sexy and shelfie-friendly, but it also features formulas that perform.

It’s pretty amazing how far deodorants have come in the last 10-ish years. I remember when natural, aluminum-free deodorants were really starting to popularize about five or six years ago. Granola-crunchy marketing became a thing of the past, and newer, sexier natural deodorants began flooding the market.

Today, there are a ton of aluminum-free and non-toxic deodorants that actually keep your pits smelling fresh and clean. Saltair deodorant is one of those picks. In my Saltair deodorant reviews, I dive into everything you need to know about the Saltair unique deodorant formula.

Saltair Deodorant Reviews: Here’s What You Need to Know

In my Saltair deodorant reviews, I will be focusing solely on the Saltair Skincare Deodorant. The brand also has another deodorant, called the 5% AHA Serum Deodorant, which I haven’t tried yet. Once I try it, I will add my review to this blog post!

The Saltair Skincare Deodorant is a stick formulation that does not include aluminum. It comes in eight scents and one fragrance-free option.

This formula claims to naturally reduce body odor, exfoliate and smooth your underarms, and promises that you’ll enjoy 24-hour odor protection. Below, I will go into the “Pros” and “Cons” I have found while using this deodorant over the last month.

Before you move on, please note that I am not really a Sweaty Betty. I don’t sweat a ton like some other ladies, so I’m writing this review based on my own experience with low levels of B.O. in my armpits. Unfortunately, I can’t speak to if this deodorant is effective for those who are heavy sweaters.

Pros

Scent

This product comes in an array of scents. I tried the Seascape, Santal Bloom, and Pink Beach scents. Seascape was my favorite of the bunch, and I ended up wearing this deodorant all summer long. The scent coincided really well with my lengthy beach vacation this summer 😊.

I think the scents are really lovely, and I have nothing bad to say about them. Granted, there are four other scents in the line that I have not tried.

One thing I’ve noticed while wearing these deodorants is that oftentimes I will get a whiff of them if I lift my arms up or if my nose is close to my armpits. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing at all, but I don’t experience smelling my deodorant as often with the regular deodorant I use.

Packaging

I love the packaging of this deodorant. It’s cute and I find it really easy to use. It is a little bit bulky in my travel bag, but not much bigger than your traditional deodorant. I love the chic colors, and I find it really easy to twist the bottom to push more of the deodorant stick to the top.

Efficacy

The efficacy of the Saltair deodorant is probably the biggest pro I’ve found with this pick. I’m really impressed with how well this masks odor. The deodorant is formulated with salicylic acid, which helps to reduce skin pH. This, in turn, helps to reduce body odor.

I didn’t really smell any odor while testing this product, except for at the beginning (which I will go over more in the “Cons” section). Although this formula doesn’t actually prevent you from sweating, it does prevent you from smelling bad all day long. I never felt the need to reapply.

Transfer-proof

I find that a lot of white, stick deodorants will create a white film on top of the skin. And, sometimes the white formula will transfer onto clothes and ruin your outfit. Thankfully, you don’t really need to worry about that with this pick. I didn’t notice any transfer when using this product.

Texture

I’ve used some stick deodorants in the past that are just hard to apply. They dry up and don’t glide onto the skin very easily. That wasn’t the case with the Saltair deodorants. They are pretty easy to glide right onto the skin. And you don’t need to glide the formula across your pits a million times to get the formula on there.

Sustainability

One of the things I really love about this deodorant is that you can refill the pod with the refillable deodorant stick formula once you’ve run out. This allows for less plastic use and a healthier Earth.

Price

I think the price of these deodorants is really fair. Typical deodorants you find at the drugstore cost anywhere between $3-$11. The Saltair deodorant costs $10 for the deodorant case and deodorant pod, or just $8 for the refill pod if you’re ready for a refill.

Cons

Detox Period

When you switch from an antiperspirant to a more traditional natural deodorant (or a deodorant that doesn’t contain aluminum), you might go through what’s called a “detox period.” This happens when your underarms start to adjust to their new reality of no aluminum to block the sweat glands from producing sweat.

Because of this, you might find that your underarms smell a bit stinkier than usual when you first begin using this deodorant. This period happened to me. One night my husband and I were getting ready for bed, and while we were laying in bed saying goodnight, he got a whiff of my pits and said that I smell less than pleasant. After about a week of continued use, the detox period finished and my underarms started to smell fresh and clean all day long.

Not an Antiperspirant

Like I mentioned above, this is not an antiperspirant. An antiperspirant uses aluminum to block your sweat glands from sweating, which helps prevent odor and wetness. This deodorant only works to mask any odor from developing in your underarms. It does not prevent you from sweating. However, I didn’t notice a ton of sweating when I tested this out daily for over a month. But like I said, I’m not a huge sweater in the first place!

All in all, don’t purchase this deodorant with the hopes that it will prevent underarm wetness, because it most likely won’t.

Does Saltair Deodorant Work?

Yes, the Saltair deodorant worked well for me and I will continue to use it until I run out! I think it works really well compared to other traditional natural deodorants I’ve tried on the market, and I’m super impressed with the scents and how long they last/how strong they are.

I absolutely love the packaging and I think the formula is really easy to apply. This deodorant seems to keep me stink-free all day and into the night. Because the scent is pretty strong, I think this would probably work well for those who have tried other natural deodorants to no avail.

Is Saltair Deodorant Aluminum Free?

Yes, the Saltair deodorant is aluminum-free. The formula is made with beta-hydroxy acid, zinc ricinoleate, oils, and algae that work together to neutralize odor and keep your pits smelling good all day long.

How To Use Saltair Deodorant

Patch test first

Like almost any skincare product, it’s probably a good idea to patch test the formula on the inside of your wrist, or swipe a small amount on your underarm to see how your skin reacts. If you have no adverse reaction, you should be good to go onto the next step.

Make sure your pits are clean

You want to make sure that your armpits don’t have any other deodorant remnants on them from another deo that you might have used. It’s best to apply this product to clean, dry skin so that it stays in place in your underarms all day.

Swipe and go

All you have to do is twist the bottom of the reusable deodorant case to reveal more of the product. Then swipe it on your clean armpits and head out the door. Pretty simple stuff!

Keep the reusable case

The pretty deodorant case is meant to be reused again and again. All you have to do is purchase the deodorant refills when you run out.
