A Beauty Editor Shares the 10 Best Natural Deodorant for Women
As a commerce writer with more than three years of experience, I’ve learned that not all products are created equal. Most conventional deodorants, for instance, contain harmful chemicals like aluminum. According to many, this ingredient has been linked to breast cancer as well as other diseases. (It’s worth noting that there are no peer-reviewed studies to support this.) But if you’re extra health-conscious, you’re likely to make the switch to natural deodorants. And that’s exactly why we rounded up the best natural deodorant picks for women.
At The Daley Dose, we are definitely not in the business of fear mongering. Again, we’re not saying that traditional deodorants unequivocally cause cancer. You can continue to use your Secret and Degree deodorants if you so please. What we are saying, though, is that these products may contain parabens and phthalates. And these, in turn, have been proven harmful to human health. So even if these won’t directly lead to a cancer diagnosis, it’s still a good idea to look for a natural deodorant for women. That is, scents and formulas that skew feminine instead of masculine (no activated charcoal scents here!)
Below, find 10 aluminum-free natural alternatives that fit that description to a tee. And, as an added bonus, we provide a couple of tips for how to switch to a natural deodorant.
10 Best Natural Deodorant for Women
Saltair Deodorant
We tested Saltair deodorants in 2024 and loved them. Its packaging is beautiful and the formulas really do keep the stink and sweat away. This is a deodorant stick, so it’s got a solid consistency. It also comes in an array of scents—like Seascape, Santal Bloom, and Pink Beach. Seascape was our favorite of the bunch, and we wore this deodorant all summer. Think of this scent as a lengthy beach vacation. Perhaps the best thing about this pick, though, is that there’s no product transference. Read: You won’t get white streaks on your darker garments.

Crystal Deodorant
This pick is one of our favorites as far as non-toxic deodorants go. Our founding editor has been using this deodorant for years and she loves it. Her favorite scents include Lavender and White Tea, which are very feminine and subtle. Crystal Deodorant is made without aluminum chloride, phthalates, artificial fragrance, or parabens. Unlike the pick above, Crystal has a watery-gel consistency. Since the formula is pretty liquidy, we recommend waiting until your armpits are totally dry before putting on your clothes. Even if you don’t, though, it’s okay because this deodorant won’t leave white marks. That said, we’ve noticed that it can create pit stains in white T-shirts if we’re not careful.

Native Deodorant
In the 10-plus years that the natural deodorant game has popped off, Native has become synonymous with that movement. Amazingly, this brand offers more than a dozen scent options. Our favorite is the lavender scent, but the lilac-white tea, coconut-vanilla, and aloe-green tea are also worth mentioning. The coolest thing about Native, though, is that the brand also carries deodorants in creams and sprays. Also, Native formulates products specifically for sensitive skin. And, last but not least, the brand makes 100% plastic-free packaging for their deodorants. So if you’re an earth-conscious gal, we suggest going that route.

Leaves of Trees
Native isn’t the only brand that creates deodorants as creams. Leaves of Trees is known for just this, actually. This personal hygiene line is the paragon of keeping it simple. For example, its deodorants come in three scents: lavender-tangerine, eucalyptus-mint, and Persian lime. The ingredients list here is also simple. It includes stand-out ingredients like sodium bicarbonate (a.k.a. baking soda) and peppermint essential oil for the eucalyptus-mint scent. The one thing we have to note about this brand, though, is that the products are tiny. Each tube is just 37mL, so you’ll need to be frugal about applying it.

Salt & Stone Deodorant
Salt & Stone’s deodorant sticks are the epitome of clean and effective. These glide-on formulas boast a blend of shea butter, hyaluronic acid, and probiotics to soothe and condition the skin while neutralizing odor. The scents are luxurious yet subtle, with favorites like Santal, Eucalyptus, and Bergamot & Cedarwood. Plus, the packaging is made from ocean plastic for sustainability. As if all that wasn’t good enough, this pick holds up even during sweaty yoga sessions or mid-summer errands. We consider this the best natural deodorant for women.

Hume Supernatural Fragrance-Free Deodorant
If your skin is sensitive to fragrances, consider Hume’s fragrance-free formulas your saving grace. Its cream-to-powder formula features prebiotics and probiotics for a healthy microbiome. The lightweight texture is invisible on the skin, which means it also won’t transfer to your clothes. Even better, it fights odor for a full 48 hours. For those who love a clean slate, this fragrance-free formula lets your natural scent—but never sweat—shine through.

Alo Supernatural Deodorant
I’m a huge fan of pretty much anything Alo. I love their sets, running shoes, recovery shoes, and this natural deodorant. It’s available in a fresh citrus scent as well as an unscented option. It is on the pricier side at $18 per tube, but we’ll accept it since it features skincare ingredients like vitamin C, tea tree, probiotics, and hyaluronic acid. Since this is a stick applicator, it’s rather easy to apply. One thing we do want to note, though, is that this formula is a bit thicker than other picks on this list.

Tom’s of Maine Deodorant
Tom’s of Maine has been a pioneer in natural deodorants, and its stick formula remains a trusted go-to in that space. The brand offers a range of fresh, botanical scents like Fresh Apricot, Lavender, and Tea Tree. With no artificial fragrances or aluminum, this option is great for sensitive skin and daily wear. And the formula is also cruelty-free and comes in recyclable packaging. Practical and eco-conscious? Yes, please!

Each & Every Natural Aluminum-Free Deodorant
Each & Every injects luxury into every swipe of their stick deodorants. The brand’s plant-based formulas use simple, skin-loving ingredients like coconut oil and tapioca starch. Standout scents include Coconut Lime, Cardamom & Ginger, and Rose & Vanilla. Perfect for those with sensitive skin, Each & Every deodorants are free of aluminum, parabens, baking soda, and synthetic fragrances. With its sleek, minimalist packaging, this deodorant is a bathroom shelf standout. That’s why we consider it the second best natural deodorant for women.

Dr. Teal’s Aluminum-Free Deodorant
Like its epsom salts, Dr. Teal’s stick deodorants take a spa-inspired approach to keeping you fresh. These solid sticks are enriched with essential oils and magnesium to fight odor while nourishing your skin. Scents like Lavender, Eucalyptus, and Coconut Oil are calming yet invigorating. The formula goes on smooth and stays invisible, leaving no sticky residue. It’s the perfect pick for gearing up for a busy day or winding down after a long one.

How to Switch to Natural Deodorant
Alternate days between natural and non-natural deodorants.
I understand that some of us are quite sweaty. If you’re worried that natural deodorants won’t keep the stink at bay, consider alternating days. For instance, on a Monday, apply the deodorant you usually wear. On Tuesday, wear the natural deodorant. Wednesday, go back to your regular product and Thursday, use the natural option. This will help you and your body get used to the new, less-toxic formula.
Use a natural deodorant in the winter.
Most people we know tend to sweat a lot more in the summer than in the winter. So that you can build your trust in a natural deodorant, we’d suggest using it during the colder months. Once you see that these non-traditional picks also work well, you’ll have no problem using these in warmer weather.
Exfoliate your underarms weekly.
Switching to natural deodorants can sometimes cause a detox phase as your body adjusts to aluminum-free formulas. To ease this transition and minimize odor, we recommend exfoliating your underarms once a week. Use a mild scrub or a soft washcloth with warm water to remove dead skin cells and product buildup. This helps your natural deodorant work more effectively by giving it direct access to your skin, ensuring you stay fresh all day long.
