Here’s How to Wear a Floral Dress With Boots and Look Super Chic
Floral dresses are one of my favorite garments of all time. They’re great for weddings, brunches, and even for a casual day at work. Why, you ask? Well, because they effortlessly add a touch of romance, finesse, and elegance to your outfits. I used to think that flats, heels, and sandals were the best footwear for this garment. However, I recently realized that wearing a floral dress with boots can give your ‘fit more character and sass. To that end, I thought it was important to share how to style a floral dress with different kinds of boots.
For the record, it doesn’t matter if you’re going for a floral maxi dress, a minidress, or a mididress. There are tons of pairing options for floral dresses and boots, regardless of color, too. And the same is true for boots. You can reach for combat boots, ankle boots, or even knee-high boots if you go with a shorter dress. It also doesn’t matter what color these boots are so long as they complement your dress.

Floral Dress With Boots
Below, we’ll get into whether or not you can wear a floral dress with boots and give tips for how to do it.
Can You Wear Floral Dress With Boots?
Yes, you can absolutely wear a floral dress with boots. That said, there are a few considerations when you’re trying to do this. Namely, you want to make sure that the color of your dress and boots are complementary. This means that you don’t want to pair a black dress with dark gray boots. If you do, it’s possible that your boots will get lost in your dress. Or that it’ll look like you were trying to go for a monochromatic outfit and didn’t quite get there.
Additionally, you’ll want to think about the length of your dress when picking boots that go with it. For example, if you’re wearing a short dress, it’s best to go with longer boots. Shorter boots with a longer dress tend to truncate your legs and make you look shorter. This is especially true for people who are already petite. Maxi dresses, on the other hand, can be worn with pretty much any style of boot. That’s because the dress is long enough to cover everything except for the bottom of the shoe.
So, without further ado, let’s get into how to wear boots with a floral dress.
How To Wear Boots With Dress
Light Dress With White Boots
The key to this pairing is ensuring that you stay within a similar color family. In the photo above, the model is wearing a light garment with white boots. You’ll also notice that the dress is on the shorter side, while the shoes go up to the knee. Proportions are another thing you want to keep in mind. We love that this outfit is still flirty even though little to no skin is showing.
Subtle Dress With Brown Boots
For you to have a dress that’s reminiscent of spring, it doesn’t necessarily have to have roses on it. For instance, the model’s dress above has a shrub-like print that we still classify as floral. And, as you might be able to see, she pairs a midi dress with longer brown boots. The tones are perfectly complementary, as is the length of the dress and boots.
Earth Tone Dress With Neutral Booties
In our humble opinion, you can always wear earth tones—regardless of the season. Here, you see the model wearing a green layered dress with ankle booties. Though we usually don’t recommend this, taller people can get away with it. Make sure to accessorize in similar colors and you’re good to go.
Asymmetrical Dress With Black Booties
As a petite girlie, I love an asymmetrical hem because it helps make me look taller. The dress photographed above falls squarely into that category. Plus, since the hem isn’t linear, you can actually wear shorter booties with a garment like this.
Dark Dress With Combat Boots
I have to admit that I don’t own combat boots myself. That said, a friend of mine always tells me about her go-to fancy outfit. “A flowery dress with combat boots,” she confesses. Looking at the photo above, I can see why that’s her default. Though the model above is wearing a high-low dress, you could choose virtually any cut.
