Kitsch Reviews: What to Know About This Trendy Brand

These Kitsch reviews highlight some of the brand’s most popular and best-selling products I’ve personally tested over the years. From their cult-favorite shampoo bars and hair perfume to the body dry brush and viral heatless curling set, Kitsch has become one of my go-to brands for adding a little extra flair to my haircare routine.

In this roundup of Kitsch reviews, I’m breaking down which products are truly worth your money—and which ones you might want to skip.

My Honest Kitsch Reviews

I honestly can’t even remember the first time I tried something from Kitsch. It was probably a decade ago, and I’m guessing it was one of their iconic hair clips. Because Kitsch products tend to be priced a bit higher than typical drugstore haircare, I’ve always expected a more elevated quality—and in my experience, they usually deliver.

What really sets Kitsch apart is how early they jumped on the sustainability trend without sacrificing style or performance. They were one of the first brands to make shampoo and conditioner bars feel both functional and chic, and I genuinely believe they helped put sustainable haircare on the map. Major kudos for that.

What Is Kitsch?

Kitsch is one of those brands that’s quietly (and stylishly) taken over my bathroom shelf over the years. Based in Los Angeles and founded in 2010 by Cassandra Thurswell, the company originally launched with simple hair ties, but has since expanded into a full-blown beauty and wellness brand with some seriously solid staples.

They’re best known for their affordable yet elevated hair and body care products that lean sustainable without skimping on style. We’re talking heatless curling sets, shampoo and conditioner bars, satin pillowcases, hair clips, dry brushes—you name it. While their price point is a bit higher than your typical drugstore finds, the quality (and cuteness) usually justifies the extra few bucks.

What really sets Kitsch apart, in my opinion, is how they’ve managed to make practical beauty essentials feel giftable, trendy, and quite frankly…fun. They were early adopters of things like solid shampoo and conditioner bars, but made them look chic enough to actually leave out in your shower. And thanks to social media buzz and major retail placements at Ulta, Target, and Amazon, it’s safe to say Kitsch isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The Best Kitsch Products That I’ve Tried

kitsch reviews Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

Available at Kitsch ($28 for both)

These are probably the most popular products at Kitsch right now, and for good reason—they are the best shampoo and conditioner bars on the market, IMO. I’ve written Kitsch Shampoo Bar Reviews previously, and I still think these bars are an eco-friendly, economical, and really handy addition to any haircare routine.

They come in about eight different formulas to treat various hair concerns. From hair growth (featuring rice water) and volumizing bars to nourishing and clarifying shampoos (featuring tea tree oil), there is a bar for everyone. I love that these lather really well, and the conditioners are insanely hydrating, too. You can travel with them pretty easily, and they couldn’t be more eco-friendly and sustainable. 10/10 on these!

Charcoal Satin Pillow Eye Mask

Available at Kitsch ($18)

This is a really great eye mask—and believe me, I’ve tried a lot. I love how large and wide it is, which makes it harder for any sort of light to get in during the wee morning hours. If you don’t like satin, you’re probably not going to like this one. But as far as eye masks go, this pick is a surefire winner. I take it traveling with me everywhere.

Hair Perfume

Available at Kitsch ($20)

This is one of the brand’s latest launches, and I am a fan. They sent me a few scents to try out, and my favorite is the Amber Shores pick. I don’t really use perfumes that are specifically designed for your hair. I’ll typically just spritz a ton of perfume in my hair after I’ve applied some to my neck and wrists.

I like these because they aren’t as harmful to your strands as applying a regular, alcohol-laden eau de parfum might be. These are advertised to help refresh your hair between washes, and can also be used on your body if you’d prefer.  I think they are a nice-to-have, but aren’t necessarily a need

Satin Heatless Curling Set

Satin Heatless Curling Set

Available at Kitsch ($18)

I bought this when the heatless curling sets were blowing up on TikTok a few years ago. I even wrote a step-by-step on how to get perfect heatless waves overnight using this curling set. These are fabulous for long hair, but won’t really work that well for folks with short hair. I currently have short-to-medium length hair and I think my hair isn’t long enough yet to use these again.

I really love that these are heat-free and won’t damage your hair. They key is to use them when your hair is about 75-80% dry. I have found that when I use them with hair that is too damp, my hair is still wet when I wake up in the morning, and the curl fell out/was never actually formed.

Ruched Satin Scrunchies 5pc Set

Available at Kitsch ($10)

These are your standard scrunchies, but really high-quality. I love that they come in a variety of fun colors, and are great to use when you sleep so that your hair doesn’t get “scrunched.”

Black & Tort Cloud Claw Clips

Available at Kitsch ($10 for 2-pack)

These smaller claw clips are ideal for those half up, half down hairstyles that look good on basically everyone. I like that they come in black and tortoise shell to match with a bunch of different outfits and looks.

kitsch reviews Exfoliating Body Dry Brush

Exfoliating Body Dry Brush

Available at Kitsch ($14)

I wrote about this one for a Today.com We-Tried-It piece. I’ve tried a handful of dry brushes before, and this one is definitely my favorite. It’s not as rough as some other ones, and it’s really well-made and has lasted me quite a while. If you want to get into dry brushing, I highly recommend this one.

Multicolor No-Slip Crocodile Clips 3pc Set

Available at Kitsch ($8)

These clips are so handy when trying to curl, straighten, or blow out your hair. They are able to get a really effective grip on all hair types, and make sectioning off your hair easy peasy. I like these more than your typical flat sectioning hair clips. Another bonus of these are that they have a hinged design that adjusts to bulk and won’t leave a dent.

kitsch reviews Microfiber Hair Towel

Microfiber Hair Towel

Available at Kitsch ($23)

This is also another winner from the brand. The microfiber fabric helps to gently dry your hair without added breakage. It’s really easy to use, and dries pretty quickly after each use.

Black Bobby Pins 45pc Set

Available at Kitsch ($5)

I mean, if you’re gonna buy something from Kitsch, you might as well add these high-quality bobby pins to your list. I notice a huge difference in quality between these and the other bobby pins I typically purchase from the drugstore (which get rusty and some of the ends fall off eventually, leaving a sharp-ass bobby pin). These come in brown, black, and blonde shades, depending on your hair color.

Gold Metal Claw Clip

Available at Kitsch ($9)

This is a pretty popular claw clip from the brand. I do love the look of it, but I will say that it’s not really big enough to put my whole head of hair up in a do. If you do want to be able to use this for all your hair, you need to have fine, thin hair. Otherwise, I like to use this one in half up dos.

Is Kitsch Worth It?

Yes, I think most of the Kitsch products are worth it. They are a bit pricier than your average drugstore hair accessory, but the high-quality feel and durability of Kitsch products truly cannot be ignored. I have Kitsch products that I’ve been using for years at this point, and I love supporting a woman-owned business, too.

Where Can You Buy Kitsch Products?
