THC Seltzer: Everything You Need to Know About This Popular Drink
Here at The Daley Dose, I write a lot about sobriety. I have been alcohol-free for two years now, and I don’t plan on returning back to the boozy life anytime soon. I no longer drink alcohol, but I do imbibe in THC seltzer every once in a while. Some might say that you’re not actually “staying sober” if you ingest THC (aka marijuana). For me, sobriety means staying alcohol-free.
I’ve never liked to do any hard drugs. And I never even really liked smoking weed when I would hit a friend’s joint every once in a while. Smoking weed almost always made me feel paranoid and anxious. I usually regretted smoking it about five minutes after it would hit me. Inhaling marijuana just never mixed with my body chemistry well, and I have stayed away from it for the most part. That is, until I discovered tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) seltzers.
The cannabis industry has taken the world by storm over the last few years, and now that cannabis products containing hemp-derived Delta 9 are federally legal in the United States, you’ll find a lot more cannabis products on the market, including THC seltzers.
In this post, I’m going to talk all about how I learned about THC seltzers, which ones I like, and why I think these are a great alternative if you are trying to stay alcohol-free.
What is a THC Seltzer?
Similar to hard seltzers, THC seltzers are basically flavored drinks that contain different amounts of THC in them—but, they do not contain alcohol like hard seltzers do. If you aren’t already aware, THC is a psychoactive ingredient that’s found in marijuana and can cause you to feel high. Sometimes, THC seltzers can also contain cannabidiol (CBD), which is a chemical compound found in marijuana. CBD is not a psychoactive ingredient but has been studied to help with symptoms like pain, anxiety, and depression.
There are a bunch of different weed drinks coming out on the market that feature different flavors and doses. The highest dose that I’ve tried is a 5mg THC-infused drink. I’ve also tried 2mg and 3mg THC beverages. These infused seltzers come in a ton of flavors including blood orange, lemon, grapefruit, lime, and many more.
How Does THC Seltzer Make You Feel?
Depending on how many milligrams of THC the cannabis-infused beverage of your choice is, you could feel a slight high buzz, or you could get pretty high. I tend to feel pretty high after drinking a full can of a 5mg THC seltzer. Also, it’s important to note that different strengths will affect you differently, depending on how much THC you consume (or smoke) regularly. For example, someone who consumes THC often probably won’t really feel anything from 5mg THC-infused seltzers. Because I don’t consume THC often, I have a low tolerance to THC.
The effects of the THC will vary from person to person, but based on my own experience, I tend to feel the effects of the THC-infused seltzers about 10-15 minutes after I take my first sip. The effects can sometimes last hours for me, depending on how strong the seltzer is. And obviously, the fact that I don’t have to deal with a hangover the next day is pretty amazing, too.
Is THC Seltzer Safe?
THC seltzers are safe, if you drink them responsibly. If you aren’t super familiar with how your body reacts to different milligram levels of THC, it’s really important to start low and slow (like, 2 mg of THC seltzer). This article from CBS News talks about how hospitals in Minnesota are seeing a significant uptick in patients reporting overdoses of cannabis. This could be attributed to the rise in legalized, recreational THC drinks. Side effects can include hallucinations and excessive vomiting.
Another thing to note is that THC can hit your body much differently than alcohol. And it can vary from person to person. For example, if you drink a shot of alcohol, you might feel its effects 10 minutes after downing it. If you drink a THC seltzer with, say, 5mg of THC in it, you might not feel it for over an hour, potentially. I usually feel it sooner, but everybody is different.
That’s why it’s really important to test your tolerance for THC by starting out low and slow. Try drinking a 2mg THC-infused beverage, and see when you start to feel it. If you don’t feel it much (or at all), after about an hour, you can probably graduate up to 3-5mg. There are some THC seltzers that are 10mg+ of THC, but, based on my own experience, I know that would be way too much for my system.
5 Best THC Seltzers
CANN Social Tonic
My friends and I are obsessed with this brand. I discovered CANN at a holiday event I went to this past year, and ended up drinking like 3-4 2MG THC CANNs and got pretty high by the end of the night. This brand has a bunch of different flavors, and I notice that this one hits my system pretty quickly. I have ordered the “Hi Boy” seltzers, which have 5MG of THC in them per can. Usually, I will just have one of those, drink it slowly, and call it a night.
One of the downsides of these seltzers is that they are pretty expensive. The regular CANNs (with 2mg THC) are about $4 per can, and the “Hi Boys” are about $6.75 per can.

Triple High Seltzers
A PR friend of mine introduced me to these seltzers. I think they taste great, and I like that they are on the cheaper side at about $3 per can. That being said, I don’t feel as high when I drink these as the CANNs that I have every so often. Perhaps I need to drink more of these seltzers at a time to really feel the effects of THC. I will test them out more and update this blog post accordingly.

Artet Cannabis-Infused Mixed Drink
Note that I have not tried this brand before, but the packaging and marketing make me want to crack open a can, stat. This pick from Artet comes in four flavors—Chamomile Lemon Spritz, Mango Ginger Spritz, Strawberry Basil Spritz, and Grapefruit Rosemary Spritz. Each can costs about $5 (or $60 for a 12-pack). These cans contain 5mg of Delta-9 THC and 5mg of CBD.

BOLDT. Infused Iced Tea
When it comes to my sweet tea, I am a Southern gal through and through. These are another brand that I haven’t tried yet, but I love that it’s an iced tea brand that’s infused with THC—the best of both worlds, if you ask me. They have three different flavors, including Blueberry Pomegranate, Peach, and Black. Each can contains 5MG of THC, as well as 22mg of sugar (which is a bit high, but it is sweet tea!). A 6-pack will cost you $28, which I think is fairly priced.

WYNK Seltzer + THC
I love the name of these cannabis products. WYNK is another THC seltzer brand that offers THC products in different flavors and strengths. I haven’t tried this brand either. These cans come in four flavors including Lime Twist, Black Cherry Fizz, Juicy Mango, and Tangerine. They also come in two different dosages, including 2.5 MG THC and 5 MG THC. You can purchase them in a 6-pack, 12-pack, or a 24-pack.
